Karla Brannen Honored Among MECPA’s 2018 Women to Watch

Portland, Maine (November 5, 2018) – Karla Brannen, CPA, has been named as one of three recipients of the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants (MECPA) 2018 Women to Watch Award.

Annually, the MECPA offers the opportunity to nominate women in the accounting profession, holding current membership with the MECPA and AICPA, to be considered for an MECPA Women to Watch Award. According to the MECPA’s requirements, “Candidates [are] considered based on their contributions to the accounting profession, community, workplace, college or universities and/or development of women as leaders.”

“I am honored to receive the MECPA Women to Watch Award. I would not be where I am today without the support of my mentors, family, and friends. I enjoy what I do, helping and advising clients and giving back to the community by volunteering my time to the profession and organizations here in Portland,” said Brannen.

Karla has over 12 years of experience in public accounting, focusing primarily on tax compliance and planning for a significant number of corporations, partnerships, LLCs, private foundations, and individuals. Karla specializes in ERISA compliance and advisory services concerning accounting standards and organizational matters.

Karla is the President of the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants and currently serves as a representative for the State of Maine on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Governing Council. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Maine Benefits Council.

Karla holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Thomas College. She volunteers regularly for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine and Buddy Up Animal Society. Karla is a resident of Portland, Maine.
